SIOUX RAPIDS – There was little doubt the Akron-Westfield girls’ wrestling team was ready to compete when it showed up at the Sioux Central Tournament on Friday, Nov. 21.
AKRON – The Akron-Westfield girls’ wrestling team may only be starting its second year of competition, but it appears it is getting in on the ground floor of something promising.
FORT DODGE – Upon learning that he qualified for the Iowa State Cross Country Class 1A Championships, Akron-Westfield sophomore Archer Small attempted to keep expectations to a minimum.
After back-to-back losses the Akron-Westfield football will have to play one of their best games of the year as they host 8th ranked Woodbury Central for Homecoming on Friday night.
The Akron-Westfield football team faced a pivotal road battle against IKM-Manning on September 26. The Westerners (2-0 in district), along with Woodbury Central (3-0) and St. Albert (2-0), were unbeaten in District A-8 and had a chance to put themselves in great position for a spot in the state playoffs with a win over the Wolves.
Archer Small and Isabella Utesch led the way for the Akron-Westfield cross country teams in the Alcester-Hudson Invitational. Small finished 27th with a time of 21:31.10 and Teygan Schram was 54th with a time of 27:05.01.
