Outfitters Almanac television show host Wayne Pearson; camouflage hunting gear inventor Jim Crumley and an ESPN film crew were just a few of the celebrities in Akron this past weekend.

Pearson, Crumley and the crew were here to produce a television segment for Outfitters

Almanac, which airs on Outfitters.TV. According to Outfitters.TV Program Director Randy Brightman of Ray City, Ga., their goal was to showcase the Hole N' The Wall Hunt Club and Lodge. Their plans also included filming a pheasant hunt on the Hole N' The Wall's acres. The photo shoot also included a visit to the town of Akron. Brightman told The Akron Hometowner one of the highlights of Akron was its friendly people. Everybody “raised their hands” in that small hometown tradition of saying “hi” to all passersby. The beautiful rolling hills also caught their attention. Once the segment is completed, it will be aired on Outfitters.TV, available online - which is the new wave of television future, according to Pearson. Pearson has teamed up with Dr. Naiyer Imam, a radiologist who helped invent the technology to read X-rays over the internet in India. For the past year, the two have been developing technology for a new Division II television network called Outfitters.TV. “It's already international,” said Pearson, explaining anyone who has high definition (HD) television and high speed internet can view this form of television. The programming is all produced in HD quality, he said. “There is a new receiver available that you can put on internet and television, which allows you to watch it just like cable television,” said Pearson, adding 110 million people in the United States already have the technical capabilities to watch the Outfitters programming using the new technology. Not only can viewers select specific programs such as just fishing shows but they can upload their own hunting and fishing videos. Furthermore, they can talk with other sporting enthusiasts through this technology. “It's like traditional television,” said Imam. “On top of that you have a whole interactive community.” Pearson wasn't sure if they would finish the television segment while here. On Saturday, the windy weather was detrimental to a successful pheasant hunt. Pearson told The Akron Hometowner the Hole' The Wall was a five-star establishment and the television segment wouldn't be finished until he had captured that quality for viewers. (Above) Crumley, who founded the first hunting specific-camouflage gear -- Trebark -- in 1980 has teamed up with Pearson with a new line of camouflage gear called Outfitters Tuff brand.

Koethe gets 100th win

By Hank Krause

The Akron-Westfield wrestlers had their hands full Thursday, Jan. 4, but did defeat the Marcus Meriden-Cleghorn Eagles, 43-27 thus remaining undefeated in duals. A-W started with a team lead of 21-0. A-W, aided with two bye matches, built a good lead but MMC came back to grab a 27-24 lead in team scoring. Marshall Koethe won his 100th match by beating Russ Godbersen, 3-1. Brody Verschoor lost a tough match, but Joe Sievert, John Sievert, Chad Morehead and Doug Loutsch all came through with impressive wins to win the team match.
